Day 3 Muddy Creek Cabins to Blue River Campground

The day began with a hearty breakfast at Moose Cafe in Kremmling and then a trip to the local supermarket to restock some supplies. Unforgivably they did not have any bananas!

After a few miles on Highway 40 we cut off into County Road 39 and rode past Williams Fork Reservoir. A quick stop here so Bob can but his air mattress in the water to find the slow leak.

The road was unpaved but a pretty good surface. Again, the scenery was stunning. We stopped for lunch at Horseshoe Campground, tortilla wraps with peanut butter and jam. I might have to change the menu!

A 4.5 mile climb started the afternoon along Ute Pass and we climbed to 9600ft. But guess what? The views were stunning! We entered White River National Forest and could see snow capped mountains for miles. An epic downhill followed and a few more miles to our overnight stay at Blue River Campgrounds.

There are bear lockers at this campground but it’s the chipmunks you’ve got to watch out for. Even as I type this I can here them scampering around outside my tent!

Today we rode 46 miles and climbed 3280ft.
