Day 4 Blue River Campground to Selkirk Campground
An early start from the campground and a few miles to Silverthorne and Dillon where we had breakfast.
I decided to revise my packing situation so a quick trip to REI solved that problem. Now I have extra volume so I can add some variety to lunches, including crisps (chips)!!!
We picked up the bike path alongside Dillon Reservoir, through Frisco and all the way to Breckenridge.
We stopped for a beer, lunch and supplies in Breckenridge and then set off for a 10 mile climb up Boreas Pass to 11,482ft and some stunning views!
Downhill all the way to Selkirk Campground, our destination for the night. A very secluded campground with one other group, three Brits who gave us some beers!
The campground was picturesque and I thought, if I was a bear, this would be a perfect place to hangout. No bear lockers at this campground so Bob, who bizarrely had a pulley and line with him, devised a system where we could hang food from a tree. We didn’t get enough height but it’s the thought that counts. At least the chipmunks couldn’t get to it.
We had quite the lightning show in the night. Fortunately it wasn’t close enough to cause problems.
Today we rode 44 miles and 3,346ft of climbing.
